This is dish is so easy to make that even if we had the hordes of the un-dead banging at the windows, we’d still have time to make something gorgeous …
A proper pie that has a crispy, pastry top. Yum! Give this rich, full bodied pie a go, I can promise you that the combination of delicious British leeks, with venison and wild mushrooms are a match made in heaven. Serve with lashing of creamy mash potatoes, gravy and a glass of red. Go on, treat yourselves. Top tip, if you’re having a little soiree, why not make these “mini” so everyone gets their own delicious personal portion.
This hearty stew could just as easily be classed as a chunky soup. Leeks and smoked haddock are the perfect bedfellows; however you could also try this dish with some lightly smoked mackerel, kippers or even smoked chicken or ham. It’s really easy to prepare and uses very few ingredients.
This makes the perfect side dish to accompany any Sunday roast. British leeks work really well with a delicious creamy, cheesy sauce and the crumble topping. Made with a combination of oats and nuts this is something that will definitely wow your dinner guests.
It’s always nice to have something a little bit different from a standard salad and this wintery salad is just that. It’s packed with texture, flavour and colour and the roasted leeks add savoury warmth, which is perfectly complimented by the crispy apple, the bitter endive and the creamy goats cheese. It makes a great weekday lunch or a light dinner.
It’s always a wonder what to do with leftovers from a Sunday lunch. A few roast potatoes, a bit of cabbage, a spoonful of stray peas and perhaps a few overly crispy parsnips. This dish will make the most of anything you have whilst adding extra flavour from beautifully caramelised British leeks and some pulled ham, which can be bought ready done now in most supermarkets, saving you even more time. It’s the perfect Monday night super.
